During Disney’s upfront presentation, it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again is on track to be released on Disney+ in March 2025. Better yet, the show has now wrapped filming after the creative retooling and the 2023 Hollywood strikes caused significant delays. Series star Charlie Cox confirmed to Deadline that production wrapped a couple of weeks ago, and as long as post-production goes smoothly, there are not likely to be any additional delays. Additionally, a new logo for Daredevil: Born Again has also been revealed.
Daredevil: Born Again Received a Major Creative Overhaul
Filming on Daredevil: Born Again initially began in February 2023 in New York City. However, production was halted in June due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. It was then that Marvel Studios began reviewing the footage that had already been shot for the series. Sources indicated that studio president Kevin Feige was not pleased with what he saw, reportedly feeling that the series “wasn’t working,” leading to the quiet firings of head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman. The directors on board for the remaining un-filmed episodes were also let go, with the search now on for new writers and directors.
Born Again resumed filming in January 2024, with Dario Scardapane now attached as showrunner and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead tapped as lead directors. As part of the creative overhaul, the previous Netflix/Marvel shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders) were officially added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s sacred timeline, with Born Again becoming a direct sequel to Daredevil.
This new creative vision also resulted in several fan-favourite Daredevil characters being written into Born Again, such as Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. Ayelet Zurer was also brought back for Born Again as Kingpin’s wife, Vanessa Fisk, after playing the role in Netflix’s Daredevil. Marvel had previously recast the character with Sandrine Holt, but her scenes were scrapped and reshot with Zurer following the creative reset.
Agatha and Ironheart Series Get New Updates Too
Marvel Studios also offered updates on Agatha and Ironheart during Disney’s upfront presentation. The latter will seemingly be released in 2025 after Daredevil: Born Again, although an exact premiere date was not shared at this time. An Ironheart teaser trailer was reportedly shown at the event, but the footage hasn’t yet been made available online.
As for Agatha, the upcoming WandaVision spinoff series starring Kathryn Hahn will officially debut on Disney+ on Sept. 18 with a two-episode premiere. The series has also received a final title change and is set to be released as Agatha All Along, which is also the name of the viral song from WandaVision.
